Risk

Internal Audit

Many people believe Internal Audit is just about numbers. In fact, we look at how effectively the business is managing the risks that may affect the delivery of our strategy and the day-to-day running of the Society.

If you enjoy getting to grips with how organisations work and want to help improve outcomes, this is a great place to grow your career.

Our team of 20 provides independent and objective assurance on managing risks, helps the Society run smoothly, and supports good practice across the organisation.

You’ll get to work with people from different parts of the business, such as Finance, IT, Operations, Prudential, People, and Risk. It’s a fantastic way to see how the Society operates as a whole.

Each day is different, from planning audits and doing fieldwork to writing clear, helpful reports. You’ll also connect with colleagues and leaders, share ideas, suggest improvements, and help improve the way we work.

We look for people who are curious, flexible, and comfortable with uncertainty. You don’t need to have an accounting background to join us. We value different experiences, strong communication, and problem-solving skills that help turn ideas into real-word results.

Legal

If you’re looking for a place where you can do meaningful strategic work, join a supportive team and shape how we do things, you’ve found it.

Our Legal team plays a critical role in protecting the Society, enabling commercial delivery and making sure we meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

You'll provide practical, commercially focused advice that helps colleagues make informed decisions and deliver products, projects and propositions with confidence.

Working across commercial contracts, financial services and specialist areas such as data protection, employment and treasury, you'll support everything from major strategic programmes to day-to-day operational queries.

Every day here is incredibly varied. Work spans everything from advising on product design and supplier contract negotiations to regulatory change and risk mitigation.

We work at pace and act as a critical part of the business. We're constructive, transparent and focused on doing the right thing for the Society, while helping deliver Real Help with Real Life for our members. It’s a collaborative team where knowledge is shared, ideas are welcomed, and impact is felt across the organisation.

Alongside our legal specialists, our paralegal and support colleagues play a vital role in keeping everything running smoothly and ensuring the team can deliver at its best.
