Our Responsibilities

Caring for people, places and each other.

Every day at Yorkshire Building Society, we aim to make a positive impact. Whether it’s helping someone take their first step on the property ladder, supporting financial wellbeing, or giving back to our communities. Our responsibilities guide the way we work.

Helping people and communities

We’re proud to support FareShare, the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors. Alongside donations from the Society, our colleagues fundraise, donate and volunteer at FareShare’s regional centres across England and Scotland.

Through our partnership with Citizens Advice, everyone in the community can access free, impartial advice in branches. In Bradford, our place-based approach funds projects to improve employability. We also run Work Immersion Days, giving local students a taste of workplace experience through workshops and careers panels.

Getting stuck in and making a difference

Every colleague gets up to 31 hours a year to volunteer, with loads of activities to choose from. Fundraising, financial education, pro-bono projects. And more.

We also take our environmental responsibilities seriously. Our ESG priorities focus on helping people into homes, boosting financial wellbeing, supporting colleagues, and building a greener Society. From sustainable homes to energy reduction plans and climate initiatives, there are plenty of ways you can see these efforts in action.

Joining us means being part of a team that cares, gives back, and makes a real difference every day.
