This is a strategically important leadership role at the heart of the Society's change portfolio. As Change Workforce Planning Lead, you will establish and lead the workforce planning capability for Change Delivery, providing the insight, analysis and decision frameworks that shape how capacity, capability and resource investment are planned across the One Plan portfolio. Working closely with senior leaders across Change Delivery, Technology, Data and Finance, you will play a critical role in ensuring investment and prioritisation decisions are informed by a clear understanding of workforce capacity, capability and affordability.

About the role

As our Change Workforce Planning Lead, you will lead the workforce planning capability for Change Delivery, defining forecasting requirements, analytical priorities and workforce planning outputs that support strategic decision-making. You will ensure leaders have the insight, scenarios and recommendations required to make informed portfolio, capacity and investment decisions.

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Change Delivery workforce planning methodology, establishing robust approaches to forecasting workforce demand, supply, capability, cost and capacity across Delivery Squads.

  • Lead workforce forecasting, scenario modelling and workforce strategy for Change Delivery, providing clear recommendations on prioritisation, workforce investment, sourcing approaches and portfolio trade-offs.

  • Deliver portfolio-level workforce reporting and strategic insight to senior leadership and governance forums, identifying emerging capacity risks, capability gaps and delivery constraints, together with clear recommendations for action.

About you

You will be an experienced workforce planning professional with a strong analytical mindset and the ability to influence senior decision-making through data-driven insight and evidence-based recommendations.

  • Significant experience in workforce planning, resource modelling and scenario analysis within complex change, transformation or portfolio environments, with a strong understanding of capacity, capability and cost management.

  • Proven ability to translate complex workforce data into clear, decision-ready insight, influencing senior stakeholders on prioritisation, investment and resource allocation decisions.

  • Strong commercial, financial and stakeholder management capability, with experience operating across delivery, finance, supplier and governance functions to support effective workforce and portfolio planning.

Our commitments to Community and Charity

Ever since we started back in 1864, we’ve had a clear purpose – to do some good in our communities through helping people keep their savings safe. And helping everyone have a place to call home. Today, that purpose is still a huge part of who we are. And every one of our colleagues helps that happen.

We’re committed to volunteering our time, resources, skills and knowledge – more than 50% of colleagues contribute to thousands of volunteer hours every year. And our Charitable Foundation has now donated over £9 million to charities and good causes across the country.
