Are you a Java Software Development Engineer looking for your next move? We have an exciting opportunity for a Java Developer to join our development team within our Savings and Payments Engineering Domain, in IT & Transformation.

This is a hybrid role, with remote working plus some onsite presence in our Leeds & Bradford offices will be required on an adhoc basis.

The role will also require the holder to be part of an on-call support rota.

About the role

As an Engineer with strong Java experience, you will be responsible for building, deploying and maintaining Java Spring boot services and API’s to support the delivery of new Payment services. You will influence the design and approach for the solution, supporting and guiding other Developers, setting standards, and embedding good development practices. You will -

  • Develop API’s and Java Spring Boot Microservices that will underpin our Digital Payments Services

  • Perform impact analysis and estimation on requirements and designs

  • Ensure that system design meets the standard for architecture, scalability, performance, security and maintainability

  • Participate and lead peer reviews of documentation, code, unit and integration testing

  • Collaborate with Architects, Designers, Product Owners and other Software Engineers

  • Support the implementation of automated build pipelines and monitoring capabilities


About you

You’ll have hands-on experience of Java and Spring boot microservices development. In addition, you’ll be able to demonstrate -

  • Strong knowledge of technologies and platforms used within modern payments applications including:

    • Restful Design, working with API Gateway management products (Apigee)

    • Containers and Container Orchestration Openshift, Docker, Kubernetes

    • Continuous Integration Pipelines - Gitlab, Jenkins

  • Experience operating in an Agile delivery methodology
