Programme Manager

We are looking for experienced Programme Managers to lead the delivery of complex, high-impact change initiatives aligned to our strategic priorities.

This role provides end-to-end accountability for the successful delivery of multi-workstream programmes across business and technology, ensuring outcomes are delivered safely, effectively, and in line with regulatory expectations.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead complex programmes from inception through to delivery, with full accountability for scope, timelines, budget and outcomes

  • Define programme vision, roadmap and success measures, ensuring clear direction for delivery teams and stakeholders

  • Manage risks, issues, dependencies and governance in a structured, controlled environment

  • Lead and develop Project Managers and delivery teams to drive high performance

  • Coordinate delivery across business and technology teams to ensure successful end-to-end change

  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders, including executive sponsors

  • Translate strategic objectives into clear, executable delivery plans

  • Ensure delivery is aligned to regulatory, audit and governance expectations

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience leading multi-workstream, complex programmes with full accountability for delivery

  • Track record of delivering large-scale, multi-year initiatives, including programmes with multi-million pound budgets

  • Experience operating in a regulated environment (e.g. Financial Services or similar)

  • Strong leadership capability, including managing and developing delivery teams

  • Ability to apply structured delivery frameworks (e.g. MSP, SAFe) with a focus on outcomes

  • Experience delivering across both business and technology change, including digital or systems transformation

  • Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to influence senior leaders and executive sponsors

  • Ability to translate strategy into clear delivery roadmaps and plans

  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including business case and supplier management

  • A track record of delivering measurable business value and outcomes

Desirable

  • Programme-level accreditation (e.g. MSP Practitioner) or equivalent applied experience

  • Experience working in hybrid delivery environments (Agile at scale alongside structured governance)

Additional information

We’re particularly interested in candidates who have shaped and led enterprise-wide change, not just delivered pre-defined programmes.

Our commitments to Community and Charity

Ever since we started back in 1864, we’ve had a clear purpose – to do some good in our communities through helping people keep their savings safe. And helping everyone have a place to call home. Today, that purpose is still a huge part of who we are. And every one of our colleagues helps that happen.

We’re committed to volunteering our time, resources, skills and knowledge – more than 50% of colleagues contribute to thousands of volunteer hours every year. And our Charitable Foundation has now donated over £9 million to charities and good causes across the country.
