We’re looking for a Platform Engineering Team Lead in join the team in our Technology Services function. You'll lead the squad of multi disciplined Platform Engineers to deliver new systems whilst maintaining operational stability of production services.

This is a hybrid role, a mix of working from home plus some time in our Bradford & Leeds offices.

About the role

In the Platform Engineering Team Lead role, you will -

  • Lead and develop a team that provides support to our E-Commerce, Middleware, payment and back-office systems. The team workload is split between BAU run support and supporting the delivery of projects that support the growth of YBS

  • Manage a high performing team of multiskilled Engineers, performing regular reviews and ongoing team development to ensure all team members have opportunities to develop their personal and technical skills

  • Liaise with other IT teams, provide 2nd and 3rd line support services on a 24 x 365 on call basis for elements of the associated technology stack across all non-production, business critical Production and Disaster Recovery environments

  • Comply with agreed processes, oversee the delivery of all project and roadmap initiatives owned by the team. Manage your teams time and their allocation to project work

  • Ensure the provision of appropriate Infrastructure consultancy services to assure the architecture, design and delivery of the supported platforms technology stack and the infrastructure it resides upon

  • Maintain/ initiate relationships with 3rd party vendors for products within the team ownership to ensure technical proficiency

  • Validate the implementation of automated build, deployment and monitoring procedures to facilitate rapid/ repeatable environment delivery

About you

With a proven track record in a similar role, you will have -

  • Strong skills in providing Middleware, Database and Platform support services in complex Business Critical IT environments

  • Ability to drive, demonstrate and communicate strategic level proposals to both technical and non-technical groups

  • Knowledge and experience of Continuous Integration/ Delivery techniques (e.g. Jenkins) and software Application Containerisation methods

  • A high-level knowledge of web-tier technologies

  • Knowledge of public cloud infrastructure (Azure And Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), Oracle technologies and Microsoft SQL server would be advantageous
