Senior Manager Buy to Let Mortgages

We’re looking for a senior leader to take full accountability for the performance of our Buy to Let mortgage business.

This role is about running Buy to Let as a distinct and specialist lending business within YBS setting strategy, defining risk appetite and market stance, and ensuring propositions are delivered consistently and responsibly.

You will be accountable for Buy to Let market participation, proposition design, pricing strategy, balance sheet performance and customer outcomes. The role requires strong commercial judgement in a cyclical, policy sensitive market, and close partnership with Credit Risk, Distribution, Pricing and Operations to turn intent into results.

This is a senior, outcome led role for someone who thrives on complexity, trade offs and clear accountability.

What this role is really about

  • Leading Buy to Let as a specialist lending business, with clear choices about where and how we compete.

  • Making explicit tradeoffs between growth, yield, capital efficiency, risk and customer outcomes.

  • Defining segment focus (e.g. landlord types, lending criteria, proposition depth) and ensuring consistency in execution.

  • Working closely with Credit Risk to ensure policy intent, speed and commercial competitiveness are well balanced.

  • Providing strong leadership in an environment where judgement matters as much as process.

Key accountabilities

  • Set and lead the Buy to Let strategy, including market participation, propositions and pricing.

  • Own overall commercial and customer performance, ensuring sustainable returns aligned to risk appetite.

  • Lead cross functional delivery across Distribution, Credit Risk and Operations, ensuring propositions work in practice from origination through servicing.

  • Maintain strong governance, regulatory compliance and Consumer Duty standards while operating at pace.

  • Build a high performing, engaged senior team with clear accountability and ownership.

About you

  • A senior leader with end to end accountability experience in Buy to Let or closely aligned specialist lending markets.

  • Strong commercial judgement, with a track record of managing growth, risk and returns in complex environments.

  • Deep understanding of how policy, regulation and market dynamics interact in specialist lending.

  • Comfortable leading through influence across multiple functions rather than direct line control.

  • Experienced in highly regulated settings, with Consumer Duty embedded into decision making.
