Model Risk Oversight Manager

We have created some new vacancies in our Prudential Risk team to oversee Model Risk and this position is one of these new roles.

We’re excited to offer an opportunity for a Model Risk Oversight Manager to join our second line of defence Risk team, based at our Leeds head office (with flexible working options available). In this role, you’ll be a technical subject matter expert on model risk, with a focus on the independent validation of credit risk models including (but not limited to) the IRB Rating system, IFRS 9, Stress Testing and Scorecards, and you will be part of a Model Risk Oversight team responsible for model oversight across the whole organisation.

About the role

Some role responsibilities include:

  • Leading both model-specific technical validation and thematic reviews, providing insightful and meaningful findings on model risk.
  • Assessing models for data appropriateness, methodology soundness, validation quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, using our Oversight Methodology to guide engagement.
  • Offering clear, constructive challenge and expert advice on complex issues, including at Chief Officer level.
  • Presenting findings at Model Risk Committees and escalating key issues to Executive and Board Risk Committees when needed.
  • Driving improvements in oversight practices and helping shape the future of the Prudential Risk function.
  • Supporting the Lead Manager Model Risk Oversight, including deputising when required.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings a mix of technical expertise and strong communication skills. You might have experience in:

  • Risk management within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Understanding of modelling techniques, especially in Retail Credit (e.g. IFRS 9, IRB), Treasury, or Finance.
  • Translating complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for a range of audiences.
  • Working independently and managing your time effectively within a structured oversight framework.
  • Experience in an oversight or assurance role (desirable but not essential).
