Model Risk Oversight Lead Manager Model Validation

YBS is going through a transformation journey and with this, our Risk teams are growing to ensure we can support and protect the Society. We have created some new vacancies in our Prudential Risk team to oversee our Model Risk and this position is one of these new roles.

We are looking for someone to join the team as a Model Risk Oversight Lead Manager to be an subject matter expert in model validation for our colleagues up to Board level and externally to the regulator.

About the Role

You will be responsible for leading the expanded 2nd line Credit Risk Model Validation team, with a focus on models employed including (but not limited to) the IRB Rating system, IFRS 9, Stress Testing and Scorecards, and you will be part of a Model Risk Oversight team responsible for models across the whole organisation.

Through your leadership of the team, you’ll provide independent insight and oversight on the design, implementation and model use to the Society’s Model Risk Committee, ensuring that all activities operate within the Society’s risk appetite and comply with internal policies and all regulatory standards / guidance.

You will be partnering with key business stakeholders and divisions to drive the embedding of Model Risk and EUC risk best practice in YBS, acting as a key strategic enabler for Model Risk to enable the business to better understand and manage the associated risk profile.

About You

Ever since we started back in 1864, we’ve had a clear purpose – to do some good in our communities through helping people keep their savings safe. And helping everyone have a place to call home. Today, that purpose is still a huge part of who we are. And every one of our colleagues helps that happen.

We’re committed to volunteering our time, resources, skills and knowledge – more than 50% of colleagues contribute to thousands of volunteer hours every year. And our Charitable Foundation has now donated over £9 million to charities and good causes across the country.
