  • Job type: Permanent - Full Time
  • Salary: Up to £42,000 Dependent on Experience + Bonus & Benefits

About the role

We’re on a journey to transform YBS into a modern, data-driven organisation - as a result we’re looking for a Data Steward Network Lead (internally known as a Data Quality & Control Lead) to join our Leeds based Data Quality & Control team. As our new Data Steward Network Lead, you’ll be a key member and important intermediary between data owners, data consumers and the data function.

What you’ll do

Primarily, you will be responsible for the ownership, evolution and maintenance of the data stewardship model to ensure our most important and critical data is identified, owned, governed and defined. You will use your technical data and metadata management knowledge to articulate data stewardship responsibilities and empower the network to identify, define and control new and legacy data pertinent to their domains. You will also ensure data policies/standards/RCSAs are communicated to, and understood by, our data stewards. Experience in managing, developing, or influencing a similar network would be advantageous but not essential as long as you have the drive and enthusiasm to own, shape, deliver and continuously improve data stewardship planning at YBS.

Additionally, you will support and assist other Data Quality and Control Leads drive forward their respective data management disciplines, such as documentation of the business glossary and data dictionary, data cataloguing, and coordination of team comms including ownership and maintenance of the team intranet pages.

You must be a self-starter and a strong team player, with a methodical approach to problem solving. You might come from a data governance, data steward, data cataloguing, data business partnering, data analysis background or similar. Excellent communication skills are expected for this role as you will be required to proactively engage, influence and collaborate with data stakeholders from across the business.

About you

A good understanding of/experience in the following disciplines would be highly advantageous:

  • Designing and delivering data management related training and awareness sessions to a range of stakeholders

  • An understanding of the role, responsibilities and purpose of data stewardship

  • Leading and chairing meetings, workshops and working groups to analyse, discuss, evolve, improve, and govern data management practice

  • An understanding of critical data elements and ways in which these can be identified and governed

  • An understanding of good data and metadata management practice and ability to advise technical and non- technical colleagues on best practice

  • An understanding of data related regulations such as GDPR, Data Privacy, Data Retention etc.

  • An understanding of risk control self-assessment processes and best practice
