Level 5 - Lead Associate

Are you looking for an opportunity that will give you the chance to use your analytical skills, influence trading performance and see genuine outcomes?

There is some exciting growth and change at YBS and with an ever-changing market its more important than ever to have great Assistant Product Managers onboard. With us you’ll be at the forefront of helping members and the business deliver great products and be able to see and feel the impact you make daily.

In this role, you’ll either be in our Pricing team or Forecasting and Planning team, but you don’t necessarily need to know about Mortgages and Savings.

Sound good? Then why not read on and see what YBS can do for your career!

About the role

As an Assistant Product Manager you’ll be part of a key commercial team, where your expertise, knowledge and contribution are really valued.

Day to day, you’ll be responsible for the development and delivery of both internal and external mortgage market analysis, to drive efficient growth for YBS. You will be proactive in providing insight that will be crucial to determining how our trading strategy should evolve as the market shifts.

The role will also see you working closely with Product Managers to develop greater understanding of the market, and to develop analytics to optimise value further. Speed, accuracy and a positive can-do attitude are paramount to the role in an ever-changing interest rate environment.

You’ll be working and engaging with a number of departments, including, finance, balance sheet management, distribution, underwriters, marketing, digital and operational teams (amongst many others) to bring commercial plans to life, and you’ll ensure that key stakeholders are aligned through strong relationship building and influencing skills.

You’ll proactively drive improvement and manage the development and maintenance of effective and efficient processes and systems. You’ll be improving forecasting and identifying opportunities to streamline and automate processes.

About You

This role would suit both a recent graduate, or someone looking to move into the trading function given your mathematical, analytical and modelling intuition. We are looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work, including the ability to work at pace when needed.

Given the highly analytical nature of the role, you will ideally have a numerate degree, and be able to digest, analyse and strategise data quickly to enable YBS to navigate a volatile trading environment.

You don’t necessarily need experience in financial products, though a good understanding of the financial services industry, competitors and markets would be beneficial.

Away from the technical aspects of the role, you’ll be a great communicator and enjoy managing multiple stakeholders and priorities and working collaboratively with the wider Savings and Mortgage teams.

About us

Ever since we started back in 1864, we’ve had a clear purpose – to do some good in our communities through helping people keep their savings safe. And helping everyone have a place to call home. Today, that purpose is still a huge part of who we are. And every one of our colleagues helps that happen.

We’re committed to volunteering our time, resources, skills and knowledge – more than 50% of colleagues contribute to thousands of volunteer hours every year. And our Charitable Foundation has now donated over £9 million to charities and good causes across the country.
