Do you want to take your first step to becoming a qualified Accountant? We have a great opportunity to take that step and join our Finance Team as an Assistant Accountant. You will develop in the role as well as get the support and training you need to succeed and to gain an accounting qualification.

This is a hybrid role, a mix of working from home plus one day per week in our central Leeds office.
About the role
This is a fantastic full-time opportunity based in Leeds and we would love you to join our well-established Finance Department.
You'll build a strong understanding of the purpose of a Finance function by getting involved in areas such as monthly reporting and budgeting. As part of the training programme you will be given the opportunity to gain experience in different Finance teams, to aid your studies and the progression of your career.
Key to the role will be providing management information to help support decision making processes and helping ensure that our month end and year end reporting processes are delivered to a high standard. That means you’ll work on a range of activities, including, but not limited to
Working on the month end management reporting of our performance
Helping with our statutory processes
Supporting a wide range of ad hoc reporting and financial evaluation activities
Establishing good links across the Finance teams
About you
You may have a Finance/ Accounting related degree or relevant experience, in addition you will -
Be highly numerate, and capable of digesting and interpreting technical information
Rigorous, methodical and well organised with excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver to deadlines
Ability to identify and deliver process improvement and positive change/ identify and address key risks/ implications
Manage own workload to ensure that activities are correctly prioritised and that all interested parties are aware of responsibilities, deadlines and progress
Have detailed knowledge of the main Microsoft applications and the current MI/ Finance systems utilised by the business
Be a confident and articulate communicator, with excellent communication skills (with the bble to explain complex topics to non-specialists)
Understanding of how Financial Services organisations operate and the associated regulatory environment
Awareness of the mutual sector and the needs and interests of members
