Software Development Engineer

We are looking for a Java Developer to join one of our teams supporting, maintaining and developing changes for the Savings & Mortgage websites (Using Java/Struts & Spring MVC architecture). You’ll join our Leeds based team (but with Hybrid working).

About the role

As a Java Software Development Engineer, you’ll design, develop, document, and create software that delivers value to our YBS customers. You will -

• Work on delivering and supporting full stack changes to our transactional websites

• Perform impact analysis and estimation on requirements and designs

• Participate and lead peer reviews of documentation, code, unit and integration testing

• Ensure that system design meets the current design standards, is appropriate for current architecture and meets future architecture and infrastructure requirements

• Provide application support to live systems and test environments

• Work on secure coding through mitigating known vulnerabilities (CVE's).

About you

You’ll have excellent knowledge of some of the following software skill sets: Java & Java frameworks, Spring, Web services and XML. In addition, you’ll be able to demonstrate -

• Experience of integrating new technologies and creating standards of usage within teams

• Great communicator finding ways for non-technical people to understand technical concepts

• Strong influencer and negotiator bringing people on-board to new ways of thinking and working against a strongly regulated financial environment

• Desirable skills include:

  • Apache Struts or Spring MVC

  • Consuming and exposing web services in both SOAP and REST

  • XML/XSLT

  • Have experience of working within IT support environments

  • WebLogic Server or J2EE equivalent Application servers.
