As our next Compliance Engagement Partner, you will join our talented compliance advisory team, working alongside peers with a range of different backgrounds. As part of the second line of defence, you will lead and provide pragmatic, business-focused advice, guidance, and challenge on strategic, regulatory, and business change across the Society. You will also support the Group Lead Compliance Advice in developing colleagues across the Compliance function to share knowledge and develop skills across the department.
The role is based at our office in the centre of Leeds with a mix of office-based and home working.
About the role
As a Compliance Engagement Partner, you will lead on advisory activities to help the first line of defence business teams meet our regulatory obligations by helping to identify and mitigate regulatory and conduct risks. You will support our regulatory compliance-aware culture to help deliver good customer outcomes.
You will do this through:
- Acting as an internal consultant, using your understanding of the regulatory landscape to support senior stakeholders in tackling complex regulatory issues.
- Promoting a compliance-aware culture which creates good outcomes for customers through the delivery of commercially aware, timely regulatory advice and guidance.
- Evaluating compliance risks and collaborating with key business stakeholders to co-create solutions to meet regulatory compliance.
- Leading discussions on complex regulatory matters and ensuring clear accountabilities for implementation across the team and the business.
- Supporting business stakeholders in identifying and investigating regulatory breaches.
- Coaching and supporting other colleagues in the provision of the advice to the business. Contributing to the development of colleagues, prioritisation of activities, and influencing the strategic priorities of the function as a whole.
- Contributing to the regulatory training strategy.
About you
- You’ve had experience of working in a conduct or regulatory risk role for a regulated firm providing Mortgage or Savings products. You have a good understanding of regulation, as well an ability to critically assess and interpret information to provide informed opinions or findings.
- You have an inquisitive mind and are curious about how the business operates and how we can support them to understand and mitigate risk.
- You’re a strong communicator able to communicate complex information, both written and verbally, in a clear way.
- You develop and maintain good relationships and are able to influence and challenge decisions with internal and external stakeholders, through an adaptable approach to stakeholder engagement and development of solutions.
- You’re organised, efficient and have a keen eye for detail in everything you do.
- You’re able to work autonomously but also as part of a team whose focus is the delivery of excellent service to our stakeholders.
- With the support of the Group Lead Compliance Advice, you’ll be able to prioritise and balance your time and workload in line with the team’s priorities and business need.
- You’ve a growth mindset and the ability and drive to support others in their development and understanding of the regulatory environment.
