Are you a Software Development Engineer looking for your next move? Do you have hands-on experience of Java and Spring boot microservices development? We may just have the role for you! We have an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed development team within our Savings and Payments Engineering Domain, in Change Delivery.

We are currently on a transformation journey of our Payments functionality and this role will be key to ensuring the supporting technology is developed to be robust and provides customers with excellent functionality.

About the role


As an Engineer with strong Java experience, you’ll be responsible for building, deploying and maintaining Java Spring boot services and API’s to support the delivery of new Payment services. You will influence the design and approach for the solution, supporting and guiding other Developers, setting standards, and embedding good development practices. You will -

  • Develop API’s and Java Spring Boot Microservices that will underpin our Payments Services

  • Perform impact analysis and estimation on requirements and designs

  • Ensure that system design meets the standard for architecture, scalability, performance, security and maintainability

  • Participate and lead peer reviews of documentation, code, unit and integration testing

  • Collaborate with Architects, Designers, Product Owners and other Software Engineers

  • Support the implementation of automated build pipelines and monitoring capabilities


About you


You’ll have hands-on experience of Java and Spring boot microservices development. In addition, you’ll be able to demonstrate -

  • Strong knowledge of technologies and platforms used within modern payments applications including:

    • Restful Design, working with API Gateway management products (Apigee)

    • Containers and Container Orchestration Openshift, Docker, Kubernetes

    • Continuous Integration Pipelines - Gitlab, Jenkins

  • Experience operating in waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies

  • Willingness to support what is built, including being part of a 24/7 callout rota
