About the Role

You will take ownership of YBS’s key credit risk measurement outputs, including IFRS 9 Expected Credit Losses (ECL), IRB Expected Losses (EL), and Risk Weighted Assets (RWA). You’ll ensure these outputs are accurate, insightful, and aligned with business needs, clearly communicating their impact to senior stakeholders, including Directors and Chief Officers.

You’ll be responsible for leading the development of YBS’s credit risk forecasting and stress testing capabilities, delivering strategic, forward-looking insights into the credit risk profile and performance of our lending portfolios with full interlock with downstream processes like Corporate Planning and ICAAP.

You will also own YBS’s application process for IRB status and ensure ongoing compliance with all requirements, ensuring key requirements such as the Use Test, data quality and regulatory compliance are understood and embedded across the breadth of YBS.

Additionally, you’ll lead on Climate Risk from a Credit Risk perspective to ensure that Climate Risk is appropriately embedded within all aspects of Credit Risk management and that a forward-looking strategy for upgrading YBS’s Climate Risk capability is in place and delivered against


About You

It is important that you have both strong technical knowledge of credit risk and experience of working in credit risk within Financial Services (in mortgages would be preferable).

We are looking for a strong people leader who can demonstrate when they have developed and lead teams.

You must also have good stakeholder management skills as you will be collaborating with and influencing colleagues across the business to drive best practice and deliver shared objectives.
