  • Job ID: 008556
  • Location: Leeds, UK, LS1 8EQ
  • Job type: Fixed Term - Full Time
  • Salary: Up to £64,000 + Bonus & Benefits

About the role

A fixed term opportunity has arisen to join the Market Risk team in the Treasury directorate as a governance specialist under the Hedge Management project within the Governance, Risk and Control programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for transforming the Society’s ALM documentation, processes and controls.

In this role you will be directly responsible for delivering key aspects of the hedge management project, working with colleagues across the Market Risk team, wider Finance function and trading. You will be expected to uplift governance around financial risk management processes including development of a plan and delivery of a quality outcome which supports the growth of the Society. This role has no line management responsibility but requires significant engagement with others.

As a governance specialist with a working knowledge of financial risk management and experience of process and controls, you'll be joining an established team of permanent and project colleagues with a breadth of experience in the asset and liability management field. This role would ideally suit someone with a strong risk governance background who is looking to build on that expertise within financial risk management.

In this role you'll build upon your existing skillset to support this specialist area within the Treasury directorate. A strong understanding of the YBS’s balance sheet, corporate structure and governance landscape are key to success in the role. In addition, you will champion a positive risk management culture.

About You

You'll need in-depth knowledge of risk management within retail financial services, internal governance frameworks, process validation and the ability to communicate effectively with a senior audience. This'll be coupled with:

  • A working knowledge of market and liquidity risk management processes including risk transfer and financial services regulatory reporting.
  • Experience of transforming process control frameworks and compliance with internal governance.
  • Excellent written skills with the ability to produce clear technical documentation.
  • The ability to plan your own schedule and engage pro-actively with key stakeholders.
  • Past experience of delivering change within tight deadlines and utilising technological solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a pro-active attitude and continuous improvement mindset
  • Effective communication, engagement and influencing skills demonstrating the ability to understand, define and articulate business requirements to specialists and non-specialists alike.
  • Familiarity with the products offered by YBS and financial market products, with a broad knowledge of finance and balance sheet management within an organisation.

While this is a specialist role we are open to discussions with candidates with transferable skills such as a high level of numeracy, written skills and the ability to break down complex technical processes for a general audience.
