We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Financial Crime Data Specialist to join our team in Bradford. This role is pivotal in evolving our counter Financial Crime capabilities and managing financial crime risk. The ideal candidate will be a key resource in identifying and communicating complex data and analytical solutions, supporting business changes, and mitigating risks.

About the role

Responsibilities:

  • Inform and support Financial Crime Intelligence in the delivery of services.

  • Support the implementation of the Group’s Risk framework via financial crime systems to enhance decision-making and governance reporting.

  • Identify and mitigate financial crime risks posed to the Group through automated controls, processes, and other applicable means.

  • Lead complex analyses across multiple risk types (e.g., AML, Fraud, ABC) and produce timely and accurate Financial Crime management information, trends, and insights - Proficiency in SQL and/or Python is required.

  • Identify gaps in financial crime controls and recommend/develop mitigating solutions.

  • Lead the testing and proving of financial crime controls in place.

  • Maintain knowledge of financial crime systems and controls used by the Group for continuous performance improvement.

  • Triage queries, MI, and data requests to support business stakeholders.

  • Analyse and interpret metrics to highlight data gaps and identify new meaningful and insightful datasets to drive operational efficiency.

  • Develop accurate reporting that outlines outcomes and deliverables, making them transparent to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Liaise with account teams to determine data structure and document data requirements/mapping.

  • Work closely with first and second lines of control and governance to ensure systems and processes align with expectations and address risks using a risk-based approach.

  • Utilise best practice statistical, analytical, and modelling techniques to perform complex analyses of the Group's Financial Crime Risks, enabling proactive prevention and detection.

  • Communicate analysis results to a high standard, both written and verbally, making recommendations for risk mitigation within risk appetite.

  • Manage risks associated with team and/or service delivery.

  • Uphold corporate legal and regulatory responsibilities.

  • Manage and implement transformation and change activities to create a high-performing and sustainable business.

About you

  • Proven experience in financial crime risk management, intelligence, or a similar field.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Familiarity with financial crime systems and controls, particularly relating to transaction monitoring.

  • Proficiency in SQL and/or Python.
