We are excited to offer a superb opportunity for a new DevOps Engineer to join our expanding Savings and Payments Engineering team sat within Change Delivery. Our growing DevOps team is focused on supporting platforms, tooling, and applications both in delivery and production, as well as working alongside our software development engineering teams to enable change and support YBS’s Payment and Savings services. This exciting new role will play a key part in driving transformation initiatives that underpin our cloud adoption journey.
This is a hybrid role; with remote working and some onsite presence in our Bradford offices.
About the role
As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be a hands-on engineer tasked with solving challenges to continually improve the 4-key DevOps measures: lead-time, deployment-frequency, mean-time-to-recover and change-failure-rate. This is achieved through the following deliverables -
- Monitoring & Alerting: implementing continued enhancements to drive improvements for MTTD and MTTR
- Automating Release Management: automating (CI/CD), integrating and automating non-functional testing to accelerate deployment-frequency and lead-time
- Monitoring Error Budgets: operational oversight of SLOs and identifying actions to maintain. Independently identify service hotspots and trends, proposing strategies to improve
- Operational Service: part of production support rota for the tribe, alongside development engineers. Contributing to blameless post-mortems and implementing root cause fixes.
- Automating Toil: remove the manual tasks required to operate the product
- DevSecOps Champion: automate and integrate security testing into the deployment pipeline and vulnerability management
- Provide Segregation & Assurance: the independence of the role allows to take on tasks where segregation is required (e.g. the final deployment to production) and provide the necessary oversight on release quality

Today, that purpose is still a huge part of who we are. And every one of our colleagues helps that happen.

Our ways of working
We know there’s no single right way of working that fits everyone. That’s why we’re not trying to find one. Instead, we’re doing everything we can to make sure that when we’re working flexibly, together and apart, we’re working at our best. And help our colleagues get the most out of work, and take care of themselves, wherever they’re working.
Whether you’re in an office-based team or your team is spread across the country, you’ll have lots of chances to get together with your colleagues for those Moments that Matter – which are all about building wonderful relationships and strong bonds with your colleagues.
