We’re on a journey to transform YBS into a modern, data-driven organisation - as a result we’re looking for a Data Systems Lead (known internally as DevOps Engineer) to join our Leeds and Bradford based Enterprise Data- Technical solutions function. As our new Data Systems Lead, you will take on technical ownership and management of data function owned servers, software (on-prem and cloud) and associated licenses to support enterprise data management activities such as data modelling, metadata management, data lineage, master data management, BI reporting, data quality management, data provisioning, privacy management etc. These include Erwin, SAP business objects and data services, SAS and serval other software platforms.
What you’ll do
You’ll be responsible for the technical ownership, maintenance, development and troubleshooting of data function owned software, servers and licenses ensuring the smooth operation of software needed to deliver an effective and robust modern-day data management service. Experience in, or a strong understanding of, technical maintenance of enterprise servers and software, as well as a solid understanding of cloud-based software management, are requirements of this role.
You’ll use your strong systems administration skills to proactively monitor the health of servers and software and undertake routine housekeeping activities. You will manage software license access requests, ensuring contractual obligations are not breached and assist users with login issues.
You will be an important intermediary between software business owners, YBS central IT teams and software vendor support services raising YBS IT/vendor support tickets, coordinating troubleshooting calls and remediating in a timely manner. You’ll coordinate and deploy/apply version upgrades, patches, hot-fixes, SSL certificates, APIs, product enhancements, connectors etc. and lead on associated UAT. You’ll also lead on software deployment and decommissioning activities.

You might come from a technical leaning systems admin/analyst, database administration, technical infrastructure, data developer background, or similar. Excellent communication skills are expected for this role as you will be required to proactively engage and collaborate with software vendors, software business owners and software users across the business.
