About this role:

As a subject matter expert, you’ll use your data expertise to retrieve, interrogate and analyse customer payment data for committee reporting and to identify any changes required to the customer payment journey. You’ll provide payments regulatory knowledge while supporting consultation responses and offer technical advice on projects involving payments. You’ll represent the Society at industry working groups ensuring our services meet regulatory standards and industry best practices.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with outwardly facing key stakeholders across the payment industry (Pay.UK, UK Finance), payment regulatory bodies (PSR, FCA,) and other financial institutions and payment suppliers.
  • Acting as a deputy to the Payments Service Manager when working on projects involving changes to payments.
  • Providing monthly analysis and reporting on payment supplier performance, evaluating KPIs and interpreting payments activity for forums and committees.
  • Providing incident management support and business continuity planning for payment services.
  • Ensuring that payment policies and the associated guides are current and compliant.

In terms of data, crucially, you will be responsible for:

  • Retrieving, cleansing, and preparing data from various sources to ensure it is accurate and ready for analysis, applying thorough data quality checks and standardisation to guarantee reliable information.
  • Using tools like Tableau or Power BI to analyse data and generate insights and interpretation that will guide decision making, payment strategy and change.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong data retrieval and interrogation experience alongside proven analytical skills using tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience in payments services or related roles, with a good understanding of UK payment schemes and how they operate.
  • Experience of delivering change impacting payment systems and processes.
  • Skilled in reviewing procedures and recommending process improvements.
  • Ability to work independently within a wide range of procedures and standards, applying a degree of judgement within set frameworks.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft apps and presentation skills (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
