Are you an Observability Engineer, Enterprise Monitoring Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer, or someone with strong experience in IT performance and infrastructure reliability? If you’re looking for your next opportunity and enjoy working with modern monitoring and observability tools, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re recruiting a Capacity & Monitoring Engineer to join our Technology Services team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of monitoring and capacity management across our technology stack, with a strong emphasis on observability, automation, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. You’ll also support the technical administration, optimisation, and integration of our Dynatrace platform across the organisation.
This role is hybrid, with a mix of remote working and occasional time on-site in our Bradford office.
About the role
As Capacity & Monitoring Engineer, you’ll deliver IT capacity and performance management services across the technology stack. This includes providing 2nd and 3rd line support on a 24/7 basis, including participation in an on-call when required. You will -
Take ownership of the Dynatrace platform, including agent deployment, tagging strategies, dashboard creation, and Smartscape topology management
Develop and maintain custom dashboards, alerts, and synthetic monitoring scripts tailored to business needs
Provide guidance and training to internal teams on Dynatrace usage, best practices, and troubleshooting
Lead on agreed Research and Development work, acting as a subject matter expert for monitoring, observability and capacity technologies
Produce and maintain technical documentation and reports, developing and maintaining observability solutions using metrics, logs, and traces
Support incident and problem diagnosis and resolution, collaborating with internal and external support teams where appropriate
Contribute to proactive capacity planning, performance measurement and tuning tasks liaising with other users and 3rd parties
About you
We’re looking for someone who has a strong understanding of observability pillars (metrics, logs, traces), and experience working with virtualisation, scripting, automation, and containerisation technologies. You’ll have
Experience with monitoring & observability tools. Dynatrace is desirable but not a must have
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to different audiences
Knowledge of Agile methodologies and DevOps ways of working, plus ITIL methodologies, such as event, capacity and availability management
Experience in providing infrastructure support within complex, business-critical IT environments
Ability to define dashboards and alerts that support proactive monitoring and meaningful insights
An interest in emerging technology and a proactive approach to learning and knowledge-sharing
A good understanding of IT performance monitoring, capacity management, and disaster recovery principles
