Our Financial Crime Team works in partnership with our business to protect the Society and its members from financial crime. As an AML Specialist in this exciting role, you’ll play an important part in doing just that by providing robust and critical analysis of our strategic priorities and making sure we meet all of our regulatory and statutory obligations.

About the role

As an AML Specialist it’s about following operating procedures, making sure that the decisions we make are aligned with our risk appetite and the current economic situation, and providing specialist technical advice across our business. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Conducting Enhanced Due Diligence investigations across Commercial Lending and Retail on high risk customers and investigating any suspicious activity including external reporting where required.
  • Undertaking customer outreach where required to support investigations speaking directly with our members.
  • Support implementation plans throughout the AML Team
  • Work to agreed quality targets and service level agreements while focusing on delivering an exceptional service

About you

We’re looking for an AML Specialist with experience of completing some of our higher risk, higher complexity tasks on our Commercial Lending customers. A background in analysing Businesses would be an advantage and having a track record in identifying suspicious activity underpinned by a working knowledge of financial crime and AML regulations.

  • SAR and EDD experience is important for this position.
  • An ICA Advanced AML Certificate or equivalent qualification would be useful, but what’s most important is that you’re committed to building your own skills and knowledge in this fast-moving area.
  • You’ll be comfortable making big decisions, and with strong communication and relationship building skills, you’ll be more than ready to engage and collaborate with colleagues at all levels.

About Our Benefits

Everyone’s different. That’s why we offer a wide range of benefits and rewards that we think you’ll love – whatever’s important to you, and whatever stage of life you’re at. Such as…

  • On target bonus of 7% (with the opportunity to earn up to a maximum 15%)

  • Access to brilliant health benefits

  • Life assurance at 6 times your salary

  • 25 days’ holiday (and the option to buy more)

  • Cycle to work or an interest-free loan for an annual ticket

  • Wellbeing resources and tools

  • Retail and Leisure discounts

Today, that purpose is still a huge part of who we are. And every one of our colleagues helps that happen.

We’re committed to volunteering our time, resources, skills and knowledge – more than 50% of colleagues contribute to thousands of volunteer hours every year. And our Charitable Foundation has now donated over £9 million to charities and good causes across the country.
