Introducing our Promise
At Yorkshire Building Society, we change millions of our members’ lives by helping real life happen. But we’re also working hard to spark lasting change for our people, too.
That’s why, we couldn’t prouder to introduce Our Promise - that’s our commitment to celebrating the diversity of our people and making sure everyone, everywhere is included. It outlines our plan for ensuring we always do everything we can to boost diversity at every level, so we’re best placed to serve our communities. Put simply, it’s about building a better YBS. We know we can make lasting change happen if we all work together.
Our goals
- 50% Our Women in Finance Charter aims to make sure that 50% of our senior colleagues are women
- 38% We want to remove all barriers to entry so that 38% of our IT team are women
- 40% Our gender balance goals mean that 40% of our customer facing colleagues should be men
- 25% Our gender balance goals mean that 25% of our branch colleagues should be be men
- 14% We want to better reflect the UK’s population, so at least 14% of our colleagues should be from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse backgrounds
- 8% We want our decision makers to be more diverse, so 8% of our senior colleagues should be from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse backgrounds
- 15% We’re committed to helping colleagues grow into director roles, and 15% of those people should be from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse backgrounds
