This role offers outstanding exposure to senior leaders across the organisation and access to opportunities that are rarely found elsewhere. You’ll be joining a small, like-minded team at the centre of YBS, committed to managing risk and ensuring compliance with our enterprise-wide risk management framework.

About the role

As a Risk Associate you will work with stakeholders across the business giving you great exposure to managers and work that you might not normally get access to in another role or organisation. You will also:

  • Support the production and delivery of enterprise-wide risk reporting to senior committees including the Executive Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee.
  • Contribute to key reports such as the CRO Report, CEO Report input, Business Control Overlay, Remuneration Scorecard, and the Risk Management Report in the Annual Report and Accounts.
  • Help embed and continuously improve risk reporting across the Society, using data analysis and insights from our risk platform.
  • Assist in the administration of the Society’s corporate insurance programme, including annual renewal, claims management, and supplier coordination.
  • Support coordination of the annual risk appetite renewal process.
  • Contribute to business-as-usual activities across the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, including policy governance, risk event and loss reporting, emerging risk identification, and risk appetite monitoring.

About you

We’re seeking a candidate with a comprehensive foundation in risk management, ideally complemented by hands-on experience in risk reporting and governance. Success in this role will also require:

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive mindset focused on process enhancement and effective framework integration
  • A team-oriented approach with a readiness to contribute across the broader ERM function
  • Excellent analytical capabilities with the ability to transform data into clear, compelling reports and presentations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

You’ll find people from all walks of life here, with different cultures, beliefs, ages, outlooks and more. And we’re proud of our differences. So we’re dedicated to creating a workplace where everyone feels welcome, supported, and empowered to be their whole self at work.

And we also have other colleague groups, such as ManKind and Family Foundations, where colleagues can connect, and start conversations that can be taken into the Networks.

Community and Charity

Ever since we started back in 1864, we’ve had a clear purpose – to do some good in our communities through helping people keep their savings safe. And helping everyone have a place to call home. Today, that purpose is still a huge part of who we are. And every one of our colleagues helps that happen.

We’re committed to volunteering our time, resources, skills and knowledge – more than 50% of colleagues contribute to thousands of volunteer hours every year. And our Charitable Foundation has now donated over £9 million to charities and good causes across the country.

I recruit for the following business areas: Commercial (excluding digital channels), Internal Audit, People & Risk

I joined the Society in 2017, and throughout that time I have worked in several departments, learning and growing along the way. However, it wasn't until April 2022 that I finally discovered my passion, which is recruitment.

In my current role with the Resourcing & Inclusion team, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with many amazing teams across the business. I absolutely love helping hiring managers find their perfect candidates, and it's equally rewarding to assist candidates in landing their dream jobs.
