Join us as a Payments Services Analyst and play a key role in advancing the Society’s payments strategy, ensuring we remain compliant, competitive, and ready for the future.

About the role

In this influential position, you’ll be the analytical engine and regulatory voice within our payments function. You’ll proactively interrogate data, spot emerging trends, and translate complex insights into clear recommendations that help shape strategic decisionmaking and strengthen our customer payment journeys.

You’ll also act as a confident representative of the Society in the external payments ecosystembuilding strong, trusted relationships with industry bodies (Pay.UK, UK Finance), regulators (PSR, FCA), and our payment suppliers. Your ability to clearly articulate our position and influence discussions will be essential in ensuring our voice is heard.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading proactive analysis of customer payment activity to identify risks, opportunities, and improvements.
  • Ensuring our payments services consistently meet regulatory expectations and industry best practice.
  • Providing expert technical advice on paymentrelated change, projects, and consultation responses.
  • Managing outwardfacing stakeholder relationships across the payments industry with confidence and professionalism.
  • Acting as deputy to the Payments Services Manager during highimpact payment incidents, contributing to strong communication and resolution.
  • Delivering monthly supplier performance analysis and interpreting results for forums and committees.
  • Supporting payment incident response and business continuity planning.
  • Ensuring payment policies, processes, and guidance remain current, accurate, and compliant.

Data & Insight

A core part of the role involves:

  • Retrieving, cleansing, and preparing data from multiple sources with robust quality checks.
  • Using tools such as Tableau or Power BI to surface insight, highlight emerging themes, and shape the payments change and strategy agenda.

What we’re looking for

You’ll thrive here if you are:

  • Analytical and insightful with strong experience in data retrieval, interrogation, and visualisation using tools like Tableau or Power BI, combined with proven experience in the ability to draw out insightful conclusions and recommendations.
  • Knowledgeable in payments with experience in payment services or related roles, and an understanding of payment processing and regulatory expectations.
  • Proactive and improvementfocused able to identify enhancements to systems, journeys, and processes.
  • Confident and articulate comfortable representing the organisation externally and engaging with regulators and industry partners.
  • Independent and structured capable of using sound judgement within established frameworks and managing work across multiple priorities.
  • Skilled with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
