At YBS, we’re here to do what’s right. Not just for our members who use our savings and mortgage products. But for our communities, our society, and our world. And it all begins with our people.
We’ve created the kind of workplace where you can make a difference. It’s somewhere you can put purpose ahead of profit. Where you can balance commerciality with conscience. Where you can focus on growing, developing, learning, and progressing. Where you can be your best. And where you can do the right thing - for you, your career, and your future.
The business strategy has informed our Leadership, Learning and Talent priorities. We have an ambitious roadmap that we are driving and delivering, and we need our colleagues to have opportunities to continually learn and stay relevant, and the right set of capabilities to succeed.
We also encourage flexible working, so please get in touch if you’d like to discuss flexible or reduced working hours. Our Leadership, Learning and Talent team are currently hybrid working, so sometimes you’ll be working from home, on other occasions be at our Leeds or Bradford offices.

You'll be recognised as the centre of expertise for matters relating to performance management, leadership and talent development, collaborating with the wider Leadership, Learning and Talent team of Learning Partners and Learning Solutions Designers to ensure that the colleague experience is joined up.
You will contribute to the design and delivery of a programme of activity to support leaders and colleagues in aligning performance management, and leadership development approaches to the organisation’s strategy. This will include providing expertise and consultancy support on these areas of responsibility to leaders and colleagues across the business.
You will play an active role towards managing our people risk by conducting regular performance data analysis, co-ordinating quality checks, and conducting MI reporting to provide an accurate picture of our organisation-wide performance trends and leadership development needs. You’ll work in collaboration with our Reward team to ensure alignment of our annual cycle of performance management practices with Reward policies.
About you

You’ll have the drive and ability to deliver our performance and leadership priorities as part of a well-established, high performing team, with the ability to influence and make things happen.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
You’ll find people from all walks of life here, with different cultures, beliefs, ages, outlooks and more. And we’re proud of our differences. So we’re dedicated to creating a workplace where everyone feels welcome, supported, and empowered to be their whole self at work.
Our five Colleague Networks play an important role in helping that happen – and have a real impact on our everyday working life here. Each is closely linked to our Inclusion and Diversity committee, and sponsored by a member of our Senior Leadership Team.

And we also have other colleague groups, such as ManKind and Family Foundations, where colleagues can connect, and start conversations that can be taken into the Networks.
Community and Charity
Ever since we started back in 1864, we’ve had a clear purpose – to do some good in our communities through helping people keep their savings safe. And helping everyone have a place to call home. Today, that purpose is still a huge part of who we are. And every one of our colleagues helps that happen.
We’re committed to volunteering our time, resources, skills and knowledge – more than 50% of colleagues contribute to thousands of volunteer hours every year. And our Charitable Foundation has now donated over £9 million to charities and good causes across the country.
Our ways of working

We know there’s no single right way of working that fits everyone. That’s why we’re not trying to find one. Instead, we’re doing everything we can to make sure that when we’re working flexibly, together and apart, we’re working at our best. And help our colleagues get the most out of work, and take care of themselves, wherever they’re working.
Whether you’re in an office-based team or your team is spread across the country, you’ll have lots of chances to get together with your colleagues for those Moments that Matter – which are all about building wonderful relationships and strong bonds with your colleagues.

Connect with Sophie HarrisonI recruit for the following business areas: People, Risk, Internal Audit & Commercial (excluding digital channels)
I joined YBS in October 2021. Prior to this I spent 5 years working within other financial services, gaining experience in internal recruitment, and ultimately realising this was the career I was passionate about.
I have been fortunate enough throughout my years in recruitment to recruit for lots of different areas but I currently specialise in our head office functions, supporting hiring managers with their resourcing needs and supporting candidates to achieve their full potential throughout our recruitment process.

Connect with Olivia LambertI recruit for the following business areas: Commercial (excluding digital channels), Internal Audit, People & Risk
I joined the Society in 2017, and throughout that time I have worked in several departments, learning and growing along the way. However, it wasn't until April 2022 that I finally discovered my passion, which is recruitment.
In my current role with the Resourcing & Inclusion team, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with many amazing teams across the business. I absolutely love helping hiring managers find their perfect candidates, and it's equally rewarding to assist candidates in landing their dream jobs.
