About the Role

As a Branch Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our retail network and play a key role in delivering YBS’ purpose. You’ll lead the Cardiff Branch, ensuring every customer receives excellent service and every colleague feels valued, motivated, and supported.

You’ll provide inclusive leadership to a team of Customer Consultants coaching, mentoring, and helping them grow so they can have meaningful conversations with customers from all walks of life.

Operationally, you’ll make sure your branch meets high standards in quality, risk, health, safety, and security. You’ll optimise resources to meet customer demand, use your team’s time effectively, and contribute to delivering our retail strategy.

A vital part of the role is enabling your branch to connect with and reflect the diverse community it serves.

At YBS, no two branches are the same each has its own character and qualities that make working there unique. Here is what the area manager had to say about Cardiff Branch.

Come and join a truly exciting team in Cardiff where we are looking for our next leader who can showcase enthusiasm, drive, resilience and exceptional leadership skills as we continue to grow our branch presence within Cardiff and the wider community we serve.

You will be at the helm of a really strong team with a wealth of combined experience who are dedicated to delivering outstanding customer experiences and outcomes, which has helped the branch to continue to be an integral part of the community for many years.

As a Branch Manager we are looking for someone who has a great track record for commercial growth, development of colleagues, someone who is digitally ambitious whilst driving our team’s community ambitions by engaging with the local community. You will work collaboratively across our wider business and leadership team, having ample opportunity for your own development by supporting our wider strategic ambitions and making them your own.

No working day in branch is ever the same and with your leadership, the team will be welcoming our customers as they walk in the door, supporting them with their digital queries, opening or changing accounts in whichever channel they prefer, preparing and delivering our business outreach educational sessions that help educate adults and children - We are passionate about purposeful working and our leaders are key to making this happen.

The YBS Cardiff branch is conveniently positioned on The Hayes in the heart of Cardiff, in close proximity to all other financial institutions, key shopping facilities and has good train and bus links.”

We know there’s no single right way of working that fits everyone. That’s why we’re not trying to find one. Instead, we’re doing everything we can to make sure that when we’re working flexibly, together and apart, we’re working at our best. We help our colleagues get the most out of work, and take care of themselves, wherever they’re working.

We offer a range of flexible working options without unsocial hours, which can help you find a healthy work-life balance. Whether it’s finishing early for an appointment or fitting your studies and hobbies in around your working hours, we can help make it work for you. We’re happy to talk flexible working and you can reach out to us anytime during the recruitment process to discuss this.

Our commitments to Community and Charity

Young child collecting onions from produce stall

Ever since we started back in 1864, we’ve had a clear purpose – to do some good in our communities through helping people keep their savings safe. And helping everyone have a place to call home. Today, that purpose is still a huge part of who we are. And every one of our colleagues helps that happen.

We’re committed to volunteering our time, resources, skills and knowledge – more than 50% of colleagues contribute to thousands of volunteer hours every year. And our Charitable Foundation has now donated over £9 million to charities and good causes across the country.
