Want to put your analytical skills to work and drive real trading results?

YBS is evolving fast, and in today’s dynamic market, great Assistant Product Managers are more crucial than ever. Join us and play a key role in shaping products that make a meaningful difference to our members and our businesswhere the impact of your work is visible every day.

You’ll be part of our Mortgage Trading team, but don’t worry if mortgages aren’t your area of expertisewe’ll support you every step of the way.

About the role

As an Assistant Product Manager you’ll be part of a key commercial team, where your expertise, knowledge and contribution are really valued.

Day to day, you’ll be responsible for the development and delivery of both internal and external mortgage market analysis, to drive efficient growth for YBS. You will be proactive in providing insight that will be crucial to determining how our trading strategy should evolve as the market shifts.

The role will also see you working closely with Product Managers to develop greater understanding of the market, and to develop analytics to optimise value further. Speed, accuracy and a positive can-do attitude are paramount to the role in an ever-changing interest rate environment.

You’ll be working and engaging with a number of departments, including, finance, balance sheet management, distribution, underwriters, marketing, digital and operational teams (amongst many others) to bring commercial plans to life, and you’ll ensure that key stakeholders are aligned through strong relationship building and influencing skills.

You’ll proactively drive improvement and manage the development and maintenance of effective and efficient processes and systems. You’ll be improving forecasting and identifying opportunities to streamline and automate processes.

Underpinning your work will be a commitment to keeping our mortgage product governance and processes up to date, and you’ll directly feed into customer fair value and target market assessments considering the Consumer Duty.

About You

This role would suit both a recent graduate, or someone looking to move into the trading function given your mathematical, analytical and modelling intuition. We are looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work, including the ability to work at pace when needed.

Given the highly analytical nature of the role, you will ideally have a numerate degree, and be able to digest, analyse and strategise data quickly to enable YBS to navigate a volatile trading environment.

You don’t necessarily need experience in financial products, though a good understanding of the financial services industry, competitors and markets would be beneficial.

Away from the technical aspects of the role, you’ll be a great communicator and enjoy managing multiple stakeholders and priorities and working collaboratively with the wider Mortgage Trading team.

I recruit for the following business areas: Commercial (excluding digital channels), Internal Audit, People & Risk

I joined the Society in 2017, and throughout that time I have worked in several departments, learning and growing along the way. However, it wasn't until April 2022 that I finally discovered my passion, which is recruitment.

In my current role with the Resourcing & Inclusion team, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with many amazing teams across the business. I absolutely love helping hiring managers find their perfect candidates, and it's equally rewarding to assist candidates in landing their dream jobs.
