As a Production Services Engineer, you’ll play a key role in supporting and maintaining businesscritical infrastructure and systems, ensuring high availability, performance and security across our production, test and development environments, including working on a wide range or projects to enhance both the future direction and services the Society offers.
This is a hybrid role, with a mix of working from home and time in the office.
About the role
In this Production Services Engineer role, you will -
Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for complex systems across a 24x365 environment, including on call support, incident resolution and problem diagnosis
Install, administer and support core infrastructure, ensuring system availability, performance, security and effective backup and recovery
Act as a subject matter expert for elements of the technology stack, contributing to capacity planning, disaster recovery, continuous improvement and technical documentation
Ensure the Society's data is processed and backed up securely and that effective controls ensure data and systems can be recovered as required
Plan and support batch processing, data imports and exports
About you
You’ll be a technically strong infrastructure professional who enjoys solving complex problems in businesscritical environments and working collaboratively across teams.
What will you bring to the role?
Experience in the development, maintenance and 2nd/ 3rd line support of highly complex automated job schedules
Excellent knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and HP Operating Systems, system monitoring, backup and recovery, and performance management
Expert level skills in Bash scripting, python and automation are desirable
Good working knowledge of Oracle middleware and databases, SQL, and experience producing clear technical documentation and communicating with both technical and non technical stakeholders
Expert level skills in designing & developing high quality complex scripts
Detailed technical knowledge of backup and recovery technologies
