FAQs

Quick answers to key questions.

How do I apply for a YBS role?

You can apply through the redeployment vacancy job board or internal jobs board. You may also be invited to apply, and if you do you’ll get an email. This creates an incomplete application that you can submit when you're ready, and if you feel the role is a match. Where a role is advertised to redeployment colleagues only, we recommend applying for the role during the advertising period as soon as possible if you are interested.

What if I don’t have a CV?

Take a look at our tools and templates to help you get started. Once you’ve drafted your CV, contact your Internal Mobility Team for support here.

How will I be contacted?

Most updates, including interview invites and outcomes, will come by email. You'll always have a contact to reach out to, whether that be or interview and application feedback or if you just need some support.

If you are successful in securing a new role, the Hiring Manager will make the offer verbally.

I’m out of the business, can I still access support?

Yes. If you’re currently out of the business, for example on parental leave or due to ill health, you can still access the support hub and register on the redeployment portal using your personal email address. This means you can continue to view and apply for roles.

What happens if I’m offered a role?

You’ll start with a trial period. This is usually 4 weeks but can last up to 12 weeks if training is needed. Your manager will agree expectations at the start and review progress regularly.

What happens at the end of my trial?

This depends on the outcome. You can find more in the Redeployment policy here.

Are there any expectations of me as a redeployment colleague?

We ask that anyone going through the redeployment process takes a proactive approach and engages in good faith. As a redeployee, it’s important to check redeployment vacancies and our internal job board regularly when considering alternative opportunities. If you spot a role, you think could be a good fit, be sure to let your consultation / line manager know.

What if I don’t find a role?

If your role is redundant and you haven’t secured a new one, your employment will end on grounds of redundancy. If you’re a redeployed colleague due to ill health or a disability, the next step may be a capability meeting to discuss your options.

Where can I get more information about policy and process?

You’ll find the Redeployment policies here and Redundancy policies here on the intranet.

We also have a set of recruitment principles that detail how we will manage recruitment and support you as a redeployee as YBS moves through a period of change. You can find out more here.

  • You can also access our standard Recruitment Principles here.
  • You can also raise a ticket on the People Helpdesk.
  • Or get in touch with one of our key contacts.
What if I see a role I could be a fit for, but it’s not recommended to me?

You should definitely apply! We recommend roles to be helpful and suggestive, not to state categorically what is and isn’t a match. You should review and apply for roles directly if you feel its a match, irrespective of whether it has been recommended.

Also, we won’t recommend roles where we can see you’ve already started an application.

I am considering retirement, is there any support?

If you are considering retirement, then there is help available. We have dedicated coaching support you can access to help you plan for retirement, including how to navigate change, identify new interests or work opportunities, manage the transition in work life balance and consider your health and wellbeing needs. To find out more email internalmobility@ybs.co.uk.

This is a coaching offering only and does not include financial advice. If you are looking for financial advice you can locate a suitable FCA regulated financial advisor here.
