Technology and Digital
Our Technology and Digital teams play a big part in YBS’s transformation, but also keeping the lights on. Teams here keep vital systems running and work on projects that push things forward, whether that’s mobile apps, cloud platforms or cyber protection.
Roles include engineers, analysts and digital specialists who solve complex problems every day. Tech also supports change projects that improve how members and colleagues experience YBS.
It’s a fast-moving space with loads of opportunities to learn and grow. People here collaborate, share ideas and support each other, helping shape the future of the Society.

Savings
Savings combines creativity with careful planning to develop products that help members save effectively. Teams here work on pricing, strategy, product design and management with a strong focus on member needs.
Roles include proposition managers and product support consultants, who collaborate closely to deliver impactful savings solutions.
This area encourages curiosity and teamwork, providing opportunities to learn new skills and advance careers. Everyone is united by the goal of supporting members in managing their finances confidently. The team culture is inclusive and supportive, fostering development and innovation.

Mortgages
Mortgage teams design and deliver products that help our members buy homes and manage their mortgages. They use data and insights to create solutions that meet real-life needs.
Roles include Product Managers, Analysts and others who work across YBS to launch new products and keep existing ones working well.
There’s a real mix of creativity and variety, and teams work closely and support each other to keep on learning. This is a collaborative space with an open culture, where everyone’s focused on helping members with big life decisions.

Internal Audit
Internal Audit helps the Society make better decisions by reviewing processes, testing controls and suggesting improvements.
The team works across the entire Society, including Finance and IT, giving a broad view of how things run. They support change projects and work closely with senior leaders to manage risk effectively.
It’s a role that values curiosity and a mindset for asking insightful questions. The work is varied, collaborative and makes a real difference to how YBS improves and moves forward.

Risk
Risk teams help protect members and support YBS’s long-term success. They offer insight and guidance on areas like prudential risk, enterprise risk, credit risk, compliance, legal matters and operational challenges.
The work involves tackling complex problems and supporting important decisions across the Society. Collaboration is a big part of how things get done, with teams working closely with experts from all areas.
Alongside technical ability, we look for people with an analytical mindset, attention to detail, problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach. There’s a real culture of clear thinking and open conversations here. It’s a great place to build on existing skills and play a part in shaping the future of YBS.

People
The People team helps make YBS a great place to work. They look after things like recruitment, learning, inclusion and employee relations. They also make sure colleagues get paid on time, can access benefits, and have the support they need for anything employment-related.
Roles range from data and resourcing to culture and wellbeing. The team supports colleagues across YBS to grow and do their best work.
You don’t always need a background in HR to work in this team. Skills like curiosity, problem-solving, communication and being organised go a long way here. It’s a collaborative environment that’s all about continuous improvement and making a positive difference every day.

Finance & Treasury
Finance is central to forecasting, planning, accounting and financial reporting. It plays a key role in shaping decisions and supporting the wider organisation.
Financial Control brings together accounting, data and regulatory reporting, tax, cost management, and risk and control. Led by a new Financial Controller, the team helps safeguard financial integrity and ensures we meet our regulatory responsibilities.
Treasury is becoming the hub of prudential risk within the Society, with an expanded remit across Capital Management, Liquidity Management, and Recovery & Resolution. Teams work closely with trading, product and project colleagues, gaining broad exposure across YBS. Their focus on data helps deliver the best outcomes for members’ savings and mortgages, while supporting the financial strength of the Society.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) will take on an enhanced role within Finance - bringing together planning, stress testing, modelling, systems, change and business partnering. The team provides insight and support across the Society, shaping decisions through robust analysis and forward-looking modelling.
You don’t always need a finance background to thrive here. It’s about using quality data and insight to solve problems. Teams are creative, driven and member-focused, with the chance to take on meaningful challenges and build a rewarding career.

Data
Data teams turn information into insights that help guide decisions across YBS. Their work includes improving data quality, supporting cloud moves and analysing customer behaviour. They also advise on GDPR and privacy matters, and play a key role in protecting customer data, including on-call support when needed.
The team works closely with other business areas, helping to upskill colleagues to use data more confidently and effectively.
Roles cover analysts, engineers and data experts who tackle complex challenges with advanced tools. The team values trust, learning and clear goals, giving space to grow no matter your experience. Data is central to shaping member services and internal processes, driving ongoing improvement and innovation.

Customer and Mortgage Advice
Customer and Mortgage Advice teams are usually the first point of contact for customers and members. They handle savings questions, mortgage applications, and other member needs across contact centres and digital channels.
Customer service colleagues support members with care, while mortgage advisors help with important decisions about buying, moving, or managing a mortgage.
Training and ongoing support are provided. You just need a customer focus and previous experience in a customer service role, either at YBS or elsewhere. This is a rewarding area centred around helping members through key moments in their lives

Commercial Lending
Commercial Lending provides mortgages to new and existing business customers. These include owner-occupiers and commercial landlords. The team supports members and brokers with specialist mortgage and lending products.
It’s a fast-moving and varied area. Work includes business development, portfolio management, and improving processes. Lending Managers and Portfolio Managers play key roles here, ensuring outcomes that benefit the entire Society.
The team is always investing in digital tools and smarter ways of working. Collaboration, problem-solving, and a love of learning are essential to success here. Fresh ideas are encouraged, with a strong focus on creating solutions that help YBS grow and better serve members

Legal
The Legal team offers advice across areas like data protection, employment and commercial contracts. Their work supports projects, policies and managing legal risk across the Society.
Roles include lawyers, paralegals and assistants, who all help shape how YBS works. The team collaborates closely with leaders and other business areas, making the work varied and full of impact.
It’s a space where ideas are highly valued, growth is encouraged, and legal ability helps YBS navigate complex challenges

Branch
Branch colleagues are the face of YBS, helping members with savings and mortgages and supporting life changes.
Roles include customer consultants, assistant branch managers and branch managers. Confidence, empathy and a passion for helping others matter most, with no financial background needed.
Branch teams also get involved in the community through schools and charity events, making the work rewarding and meaningful.
It’s a friendly, welcoming environment focused on delivering great member service every day. If you have any experience of customer service in YBS or in previous roles, it’s a great place to grow.

Change Delivery
At YBS, our Change Delivery teams are dedicated to driving impactful change through the successful delivery of projects and programmes. They focus on scope, clarity, and execution of the overall portfolio while ensuring the continuity and protection of live services for our customers.
The department is made up of a variety of roles, including Programme Managers, Service Leads, Data Engineers and Analysis Leads- each playing a pivotal role in delivering our strategic objectives. Together, they drive the successful execution of projects and programmes that safeguard our organisation, ensure compliance, and create seamless, joyful experiences for our customers.
