We have a clear business strategy which recognises the changing needs of our members and potential customers. We have an ambitious roadmap that we are driving and delivering, and we need our colleagues to have the right set of capabilities to succeed. The business strategy has informed our learning priorities and reshaped the roles we need to implement a reimagined world of learning, one which seeks to make sure YBS always has the capabilities it needs and our colleagues have opportunity to continually learn and stay relevant.

About the role

The Learning Solution Designers follow best practice in learning solution design. They have well-honed skills in exploring the learning need so the correct outcomes of learning are understood. With these insights they can then consider the range of possibilities in terms of learning approaches and, with the subject matter expert, agree the most appropriate design for the learning. After agreeing the design, the Learning Solutions Designer follows through to build and delivery of the learning initiative. The evaluation of the learning will have been built into the design and this is carried out and results analysed as agreed with stakeholders.

  • Work collaboratively with the team and colleagues across the business to deliver business learning priorities
  • Act as strong change agents, encouraging YBS to adopt creative and new learning approaches when these are believed to deliver the best outcome.
  • Follow an agreed standardized approach to their work. This approach is influenced by project management, agile and design thinking and each piece of work will have clear requirements and expectations regarding delivery in terms of time, quality and resources.
  • Support the L&D team with admin based responsibilities to enable effective learning to happen, understand the outcomes and provide MI to the business as required.

About you

This is an extremely varied role where one day you can be engaged in conversations with stakeholders about learning outcomes and the next you could be presenting learning design options to address capability gaps therefore, we need someone who has experience in a learning role previously and who can work autonomously to ensure that they deliver by what is needed for the business.

  • Experience in designing a variety of learning solutions including design for face-to-face, virtual and on-line learning
  • Excellent stakeholder management as you will be consulting with colleagues across the business
  • Love to use your initiative - being creative in identify solutions to the learning challenges presented, using data to support your decisions and easily sharing your ideas with stakeholders. You will have the appetite and drive to deliver new and exciting recommendations which may enhance the current blended learning approach.

At heart, you will be a self-directed learner who just loves applying your learning. You get a kick from inspiring others to be the same.

Community and Charity

Ever since we started back in 1864, we’ve had a clear purpose – to do some good in our communities through helping people keep their savings safe. And helping everyone have a place to call home. Today, that purpose is still a huge part of who we are. And every one of our colleagues helps that happen.

We’re committed to volunteering our time, resources, skills and knowledge – more than 50% of colleagues contribute to thousands of volunteer hours every year. And our Charitable Foundation has now donated over £9 million to charities and good causes across the country.

Our ways of working

Colleague smiling at phone in the office

We know there’s no single right way of working that fits everyone. That’s why we’re not trying to find one. Instead, we’re doing everything we can to make sure that when we’re working flexibly, together and apart, we’re working at our best. And help our colleagues get the most out of work, and take care of themselves, wherever they’re working.

Whether you’re in an office-based team or your team is spread across the country, you’ll have lots of chances to get together with your colleagues for those Moments that Matter – which are all about building wonderful relationships and strong bonds with your colleagues.
