At Yorkshire Building Society, we put members at the heart of every decision we make. Consumer Duty is central to how we design products, deliver services and support good customer outcomes.

We’re looking for a Consumer Duty Partner to join us on a 12month fixed term contract. This is a high-impact role for someone who can bring expertise, perspective and constructive challenge, helping us continue to strengthen how we deliver and evidence good outcomes., as well as leading elements of our maturity roadmap and ensuring key actions are driven through to completion.

This role goes beyond compliance. You’ll act as a trusted partner and ‘critical friend’, working closely with senior leaders to embed in day-to-day decision-making, governance and change.

You’ll also play a key role in building internal capability, ensuring knowledge and improvements are sustained long after the role concludes.

About the Role

You will act as a subject matter expert on Consumer Duty, providing independent insight and external perspective to support and constructively challenge senior stakeholders, strengthening decision-making.

You will review and challenge governance, frameworks and approaches to ensure they deliver good customer outcomes, identifying and prioritising conduct risks, gaps and potential customer harm, and driving clear, accountable actions to address them.

You will also support the evolution of MI, governance and assurance frameworks, contributing insight and challenge within senior governance forums.

Alongside this, you will build capability across the organisation through coaching, collaboration and knowledge sharing.

You bring a credible and wellevidenced approach, offering constructive challenge while staying outcomesfocused and pragmatic. You influence through insight rather than authority, build capability and confidence in others, and bring curiosity, clarity and a continuous improvement mindset. With a strong focus on delivery, you ensure actions are followed through to drive measurable results.

About You

  • Strong, practical understanding of Consumer Duty and what good looks like in practice, demonstrated through experience of implementing or embedding Consumer Duty in another large, regulated organisation

  • Experience bringing external perspective, insight or lessons learned from Consumer Duty implementation to inform and improve outcomes

  • Experience influencing and challenging senior stakeholders without formal authority, with a track record of converting challenge into tangible change

  • Ability to assess customer outcomes, MI and supporting evidence with confidence

  • Experience in Consumer Duty, conduct risk or customer outcome-focused roles

  • Sound judgementbalancing risk, pace and pragmatism

  • Confidence operating in complex or evolving environments

  • Proven ability to translate insight into action driving change through others and ensuring delivery against agreed outcomes
