Here at YBS we are modernising our approach to create value aligned teams which bring our IT and Transformation colleagues into the heart of enabling our strategy, working in partnership with our business teams and removing barriers to optimise our delivery of value to members.
We now have a brilliant opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to lead the definition and embedding of a Governance Framework across the organisation. This role sits within our Change Delivery team and offers high visibility, significant influence, and the chance to shape how governance supports strategic decisionmaking and organisational control.
Effective and timely Business decisions impact agility, customer outcomes, and operational efficiency. While governance forums like ExCo, and Product Council are essential, delays can be frequently caused by upstream and downstream factors ownership, engagement, and rework cyclesrather than the governance structures themselves.
This initiative is not just about rationalising governance bodies, but about improving the entire decision-making journeyfrom idea to implementation and redesigning how decisions are scoped, prepared, aligned, and executed across the organisation.
This is a fixed term contract (FTC) opportunity for 12 months - while hybrid working is supported, you will need to attend our Leeds and Bradford offices as required for key meetings and workshops.
About the role
We’re seeking an experienced, highly organised Senior Project Manager to lead endtoend delivery of a major Governance Framework enhancement project. You will join an established, crossfunctional programme team and play a pivotal role in defining how governance operates across YBS. You will:
- Lead endtoend delivery of the Governance Framework project, ensuring clear timelines, scope, and deliverables.
- Design, refine, and implement governance processes, templates, standards, and escalation mechanisms.
- Facilitate workshops, design sessions, and stakeholder forums, ensuring alignment and shared understanding of governance expectations.
- Ensure appropriate assurance, oversight, and reporting are in place and that Sponsors and senior stakeholders are fully engaged throughout.
- Hold endtoend accountability for scope, schedule, budget, dependencies, RAID items, and benefits realisation.
- Collaborate closely with PMO and Assurance teams to ensure governance is consistently applied across programmes and projects.
- Lead change adoption activities, including communications, engagement, guidance materials, and rollout planning.
- Ensure all delivery aligns with and reinforces the YBS Change Framework and Governance Model.

Our five Colleague Networks play an important role in helping that happen – and have a real impact on our everyday working life here. Each is closely linked to our Inclusion and Diversity committee, and sponsored by a member of our Senior Leadership Team.
And we also have other colleague groups, such as ManKind and Family Foundations, where colleagues can connect, and start conversations that can be taken into the Networks.
Community and Charity
Ever since we started back in 1864, we’ve had a clear purpose – to do some good in our communities through helping people keep their savings safe. And helping everyone have a place to call home. Today, that purpose is still a huge part of who we are. And every one of our colleagues helps that happen.
We’re committed to volunteering our time, resources, skills and knowledge – more than 50% of colleagues contribute to thousands of volunteer hours every year. And our Charitable Foundation has now donated over £9 million to charities and good causes across the country.
Our ways of working
We know there’s no single right way of working that fits everyone. That’s why we’re not trying to find one. Instead, we’re doing everything we can to make sure that when we’re working flexibly, together and apart, we’re working at our best. And help our colleagues get the most out of work, and take care of themselves, wherever they’re working.
Whether you’re in an office-based team or your team is spread across the country, you’ll have lots of chances to get together with your colleagues for those Moments that Matter – which are all about building wonderful relationships and strong bonds with your colleagues.
