Senior Credit Partner

A fantastic opportunity has opened up for a Senior Credit Partner to become part of our expanding Commercial Lending Team.

About the role

This newly created position is crucial for driving the growth of our portfolio, maintaining our focus on robust risk management, and articulating our credit risk appetite to a wide range of stakeholders.

As subject matter expert you will work closely with Lending Managers, brokers, and underwriters to assess, structure, and recommend complex lending deals that align with our risk appetite and commercial objectives. Other role responsibilities include:

• Provide focused coaching and development across the origination journey to deliver quality transactions that are aligned with YBS Commercial's credit risk appetite.

• Ensuring acceptable asset quality is maintained when originating new customer exposures.

• Act as a main point of contact for the regional teams by providing focused feedback on deal structures, seeking new ways to communicate complex messages, and supporting focused training on commercial property matters / sectors / key topics.

• Play an active role in the continuous improvement of processes across the borrower journey.

• Be a key contributor at Commercial Lending deal forum to provide focused, timely and insightful feedback on early-stage proposals.

• Maintaining a positive, flexible, and pragmatic outlook in a pressured environment to help YBS Commercial achieve its growth objectives.

• Interacting with the Portfolio Management Team to maintain a high-quality lending portfolio through term loan extensions, material variations, and forbearance approvals.

• Completing monthly quality sampling across the underwriting team to assist with mandate sampling and driving consistency and quality.

About you

You should have an in-depth understanding of Commercial Lending, whether in underwriting, lending, or a relationship management role and a demonstrable track record of structuring real estate transaction. This expertise should be accompanied by:

• The ability to communicate effectively and forge excellent relationships with key stakeholders.

• Be able to articulate complex positions in a succinct and focused way.

• Having deep knowledge of the commercial lending market and nuances across asset classes.

• The ability to influence at all levels.

• Previous experience in leading and managing people.

• The aptitude for constructively challenging others.

• Detailed knowledge of the full commercial lending borrower life cycle.
